Synes i mørket ✨

Be visible the dark ✨

The autumn darkness is here, and it's time to find your reflectors again. Are you the type who doesn't like wearing reflectors? Here are some tips that might help 😊

My favorite is reflective sheets that you can cut out shapes from. They are available both as self-adhesive , which is great for synthetic fabrics, such as an outer jacket, and for ironing . In my experience, they stay best when ironed on. I have cut out dots and "clothes" for a leopard pattern and put them on jackets and hats. Below you can see how ✨

Here is a hat with a simpler pattern , which was made last winter and here is my old puffer jacket , when it got self-adhesive reflectors a few years ago.

Another recommendation is reflective piping , which can be added between the seams of the garment when sewing an outer garment. I haven't tested it myself yet, but I have seen it in finished garments and know that it is a discreet and nice way to add reflective without making too much of a fuss. For example, it can be used around the edge and at the waist of the Ingvild coat. If you sew it with a collar, it will be an extra nice detail on the outer edge of the collar.

If you want to do it quickly and easily, you can also buy regular reflective tape , tie a nice loop and attach it to your garment with a safety pin or tie it to the head of a zipper. This also works well on shoes, for example together with or instead of shoelaces.

I hope you try out some of these ideas and feel free to share other tips with me at @melilotpatterns on Instagram or Facebook.

The most important thing is that you use reflectors in the dark.
