Gilles is a classic unisex shirt, with two options for shoulder width. You can choose between two different collars, or wear the stand without a collar. The shirt is inspired by the work shirt for artists, and therefore has a simple design that invites variation, such as different colors on the different parts. The sleeves have a long slit with buttons, so they can be easily rolled up when needed. You can choose whether you want a pleat in the middle of the back or not, depending on how loose a fit you want.

To make the recipe easy to follow for a beginner, all steps are thoroughly explained with text and illustrations.

The pattern is available as a PDF in Norwegian and English or as a paper pattern in Norwegian. All sizes are included when you purchase a pattern.

Choice of fabric

The shirt will be best made from woven cotton or linen, intended for shirts (weight of about 150-220 gsm). Medium to thin qualities such as poplin, voile, canvas, quilting cotton, thin denim or chambray will work well. Linen or cotton woven bedding will also make lovely shirts. Viscose can be a nice alternative, if you want a softer version with more drape.
