Ingvild
Ingvild
Ingvild is a timeless and feminine coat, that fits perfectly over dresses with a lot of width in the skirt. The coat is reversible, which means you get two coats in one. Choose a plain fabric on one side and a contrast on the other, and you have coats for all occasions. The waist darts make the shape elegant and interesting. The closure is asymmetrical and the neckline is plain and simple. The coat has pockets in the side seams.
It is possible to buy a collar and hood for Ingvild, as an additional pattern. You can find that here.
To make the recipe easy to follow, All steps are thoroughly explained with text and illustrations.
The pattern is available as a PDF in Norwegian and English or as a paper pattern in Norwegian. All sizes are included when you buy a pattern.

- Contrast fabric: 2.5 m - 4 m fabric* (140 cm wide)

*size 32-34: 2.5 m fabric, size 36-52: 3.2 m fabric (skirt with full width) or 2.5 m fabric (skirt with smaller width), size 54-64: 4 m.
Fabric choice:
Mid-weight woven fabrics are recommended for Ingvild, for example in natural materials such as wool, linen or cotton. The most important thing you should think about when choosing fabrics is that the two fabrics has a similar drape. They can have slightly different weight/thickness, as long as they have the same drape. If one fabric has a heavier drape or a looser weave than the other, one side might appear larger than the other and the fabric might be visible from the other side of the coat.
Fabric choice for the garments pictured:
The pink and black/white coat is sewn in two heavy-weight wool fabrics for furniture. It has got loops for closure, instead of buttonholes. The yellow coat is sewn in a stiff furniture fabric in a linen and wool blend. It has added facings and is lined with silk.

Choice of fabric
Medium-thick, woven fabrics are recommended for Ingvild, for example in natural materials such as wool, linen or cotton. The most important thing you should think about when choosing fabrics is that the two fabrics fall roughly the same. They may well have slightly different thicknesses, as long as they have the same firmness. If one fabric has a heavier drape or a looser weave than the other, it can lie past the edge of the seam, so that one side is perceived as slightly larger than the other.
Fabric choice for the garments pictured:
The pink and black/white coat is sewn in two rather strong wool upholstery fabrics. It has got loops for closure, instead of buttonholes. The yellow coat is sewn in a slightly stiff furniture fabric in a linen and wool blend. It has been coated and is lined with silk.
