Kalle is a pair of classic gaiters, for small and large. The width is adjustable with elastic or lacing. They fit well on the foot, even in deep snow, thanks to the elastic underneath and a hook that can be attached to the shoelaces.
The pattern includes three sizes: Mini (child), Midi (youth/small adult) and Maxi.
As winter boots can be both large and bulky and small and neat, the size of the gaiters can also vary depending on the shoe choice. Therefore, check what kind of shoes they are intended for without wearing. For ski boots, an adult may well choose the smallest size, so that there is not so much extra fabric around the ankles.

Choice of fabric
Choice of fabric
Water-repellent fabrics work best for this pattern. Fabrics like oilskin, Etaproof, rain fabric or other impregnated fabrics. You can also choose a warm fabric, for a warmer version. Dense wool with a natural water-repellent surface, like cotton or upholstery wool can also work well. Test the fabrics in the snow or under running water first, to see how they behave, if you are unsure. Some rain fabrics require you to use a Teflon foot or similar to get nice seams. Sew a little on a test patch before you start, so you know how the fabric behaves.
