Miriam is a simple and elegant jacket, which is suitable for both everyday life and parties. The jacket is easy to sew and is suitable for beginners who want to learn new techniques. You can choose to use a tie as a closure at the waist, or use elastic at the waist and a button or hook as a closure. The pattern includes two different sleeves: a short gathered sleeve and a long, single sleeve.

To make the recipe easy to follow, All steps are thoroughly explained with text and illustrations.

The pattern is available as a PDF in Norwegian and English or as a paper pattern in Norwegian. All sizes are included when you buy a pattern.

Level: Beginner+

Sizes: 32-64 (target form)

You need this

  • Sewing thread
  • 0.6-1.2 m trouser knit or 1.5-2 m tie tape
  • Button or hook and loop (if you have elastic at the waist)
  • 10 cm adhesive material (non-woven fabric)
  • 1.4 m - 2.2 m fabric* (140 cm wide)

*size 32-42: 1.4 m, size 44-48: 1.7 m, size 50-54: 2 m, size 56-64: 2.2 m.

Choice of fabric

A medium thick to thin fabric in e.g. viscose, tencell/lyocell, cotton, linen, silk or wool are recommended. Because of the wrinkling at the waist, it's a good idea to choose a soft fabric that won't become bulky when wrinkled. Fabrics with a heavy drape are particularly suitable.

Fabric choice for the garments pictured:

Mari is wearing a jacket with long sleeves in red and pink linen (designed by Mari Melilot for idavictoria.no)

Miriam is wearing a long version of the jacket in white with a dark blue motif, with long sleeves and a cape skirt. The fabric is a mixture of silk and bamboo.

Miriam wears a dress version of the jacket with gathered sleeves in yellow woven viscose.
